Not long ago Google engineer Benson Leung set out on a mission to prove that some USB-C cables are a mere misfit that can damage your device. In the process of this test, Ben lost his Chromebook Pixel.

Ever since he started the test on most of the USB-C cable, the tested once were always published on Amazon. Leung just wanted to prove that all of these USB-C cables are not actually created equal and that the wrongly created could cause damage to your device.

Leung was able to discover that the SurjTech cable of USB-C was actually a death trap and that it is “completely miswired”.

According to Leung, “The GND pin on the Type-A plug is tied to the Vbus pin on the Type-C. The Vbus pin on the Type-A plug is tied GND on the Type-C plug”. This is a time bomb waiting to explode. The text led to Leung losing three pieces of his electronics Gadgets.

Benson Leung has been in the business of USB-C cable review over the years. But this time, this incident will slow down his rate of his review with the loss of his computer.
